Common warning signs
Pause when a person guarantees approval, demands an advance transfer to release funds, pressures you to act immediately, or refuses to provide a contract and legal identity. Be cautious when names differ between the website, payment recipient and documents.
Impersonators may copy a real company’s brand. Navigate to the official domain independently and use contact details published there rather than replying to the original message.
Protect your information
A short application is not proof that no assessment occurs. It may be an intermediary form designed to collect contact information for third parties.
- Never share passwords or one-time verification codes.
- Read who controls and receives application data.
- Check links and domain spelling before uploading identity documents.
- Do not install remote-access software at a supposed lender’s request.
- Keep screenshots, messages and payment instructions as evidence.
If you suspect fraud
Stop further payments and communication that exposes more information. Preserve the chronology, account details, domains and messages. Contact the relevant payment provider and appropriate official channel for the conduct involved.
Do not publish unnecessary identity or account information while seeking help. If a real company is being impersonated, notify it through its verified channel as well.
